One of the biggest Special Olympics fundraisers will return to Bellevue this weekend: The 2014 Kentucky-Ohio Polar Plunge.
FOX19's Denise Johnson will be hosting and participating in the event. She is raising money for the cause and all donations will go towards providing life-changing sports training and competition opportunities for Special Olympic participants. Click here to help Denise reach her goal.
The Polar Plunge works just like a Walk-a-Thon, but instead of walking, participants take a chilly dip into a pool that will be set up in the parking lot of Joe's Crab Shack.
Each "Polar Bear" participant can raise donations to take part, which is a minimum of $75 or $50 minimum for Junior Plungers, ages 6-18.
You can plunge on your own or with a group of friends. There will be prizes for the largest groups and top fundraisers. One lucky Polar Bear could also win a vacation!
Last year, the Polar Plunge raised more than $148,000 to support the efforts of Special Olympics athletes in Kentucky and Ohio.
