KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Sunday.

KCTV5 Meteorologist Tom Wachs says a band of snow will move in from the north tonight.

Light to moderate "powdery" snow will fall across the area Saturday evening into Sunday morning with a general 1 inch to 3 inches of snow for much of the area. A zone of 2 inches to 4 inches is likely in eastern sections of the area. The heaviest snow will fall near St. Louis, where upwards of 10" could fall Sunday morning.

Roads will become slick and, at the very least, partially snow covered by later in the evening into the night. Temperatures will fall through the teens to near 6 degrees Sunday morning.

Morning snow showers Sunday then turns variably cloudy and very cold. Sunday afternoon temperatures will struggle to get back to 10 degrees and it will feel like it's negative 5 to negative 15 degrees throughout the day, thanks to a blustery north wind.

Sunday night will drop to negative 10 degrees in the metro with areas to the north upwards of negative 11 degrees to negative 16 degrees. Wind chills by Monday morning will be near negative 30 degrees as the coldest air in more than a decade moves in.
