(KTAB/CNN) - There was a very special delivery in Abilene, TX.
A mom rang in the New Year with twins. But they were born in different years.
"At 11:59 Hannah Grace … was born and at 12 o'clock and 40 seconds, Danielle Lynn was born," said new mom Veronica Reed.
Just one minute apart but those 60 seconds make a year's difference.
When Veronica Reed went to the hospital on New Years Eve, it was just a route visit. But soon a twist of fate would change that short stay into a year-changing delivery
"Being New Year's Eve, the only doctor that could help me was not going to be coming in until 11:30 at night," said Dr. Roger Odgee.
Call the timing perfection, but the true miracle here is the actual birth of those twins. The babies were diagnosed with a rare disorder and the doctor thought they would never make it."
"Well, Veronica had what is known as twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and what that is they share blood vessels and one baby gets too much blood and there other doesn't get any," said Mark Maberry, a maternal field medicine specialist.
Reed says a miracle occurred.
"There was for me to get to maybe 22 weeks and I made it to 37 weeks, which is full term for twins," she said.
