Grand jury charges Springboro woman with vehicular assault
LEBANON, OH (FOX19) -
A Warren County grand jury has indicted a Springboro woman with several charges in connection with a Nov. 1 traffic accident in Franklin where a 1-year-old baby was seriously injured.
Kari Withrow, 27, faces aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault and opearating under the influence charges.
John Arnold, first assistant prosecutor in the Warren County Prosecutor Office's criminal division, said Withrow was traveling eastbound on Franklin-Trenton Road when she went left of center and struck a van driven by a woman with four children inside.
Arnold said most of the children received minor injuries. But a 1-year-old baby suffered a large laceration to his head. The other driver not was seriously hurt.
Withrow suffered minor injuries. Arnold said she submitted a blood test that was negative for alcohol but positive for morphine and methadone that appears to be in excess of the therapeutic limit. He said Withrow had slurred speech and kept dozing off.
Aggravated vehicular assault is a third degree felony. Vehicular assault is a fourth degree felony and the operating under the influence is a first degree misdemeanor.
