Donation fund created to catch killer of mother, child

Posted: Updated:

The discovery of a murdered mother and her child, with another toddler left alone and alive with the bodies moved even veteran police officers.

On Wednesday night, one group is trying to do something to bring justice for the mother and daughter's murder.

The Ad Hoc Group Against Crime announced a reward fund intended to get witnesses to tell authorities any information they might know about this case.

Myeisha Turner would have been 29-years-old on Wednesday. Her daughter, Damiah White, was three. In August, a relative found Damiah's one-year-old brother, Denim, wandering through the house where his family laid dead.

"I miss her. I'm heartbroken," Turner's mother, Cheryl Turner, said.

Cheryl Turner wonders if she will ever make sense of it.

"There is not a day goes by that I don't think of them.  And I just wonder why?  Why did this happen?" she said.

The people at Ad Hoc say the police have an idea who did it and there are people out there who know, but they are afraid to come forward, so they have set up a fund at U.S. Bank in Kansas City.

To start the reward fund, Ad Hoc donated $2,000 and are asking for donations to make the fund grow.

"At this holiday time there is an empty chair at the table of Myeisha's family and there should be one at the murder's home. And we want to do whatever we can to entice them to come forward and say what they know," Ad Hoc's Bryan Dial said.

The organization has also collected presents for the surviving child. He is being cared for by his father, who is also Damiah's father. They will be presenting the gifts to him soon.

Those wishing to donate to the reward fund can do so at any U.S. Bank branch or through the website Just search for Ad Hoc Group Against Crime.
