An 84-year-old pedestrian has died after a pickup truck struck him in Butler County on Wednesday morning.

A Ford F150, operated by Randy Collins of Wayne Township, was traveling southbound on U.S. 127 when it hit the Donald Mays near the intersection of U.S. 127 and State Route 503.

The Butler County Sheriff's office believes Mays was trying to cross U.S. 127 when he was hit. He was not in a crosswalk.

Mays, who lived in Seven Mile, was flown to University Hospital from the scene of the crash. He died Wednesday night from injuries sustained in the accident.

No charges have been filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
