KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are trying to find the person behind the city's 103rd homicide of the year.

Friends and family of 50-year-old Aaron Dean held a vigil Monday night as they also look for answers.  Dean was shot and killed earlier this month near East 44th Street and The Paseo.

According to police, Dean stumbled into a gas station Dec. 2 asking the clerk to call 911 because he had been shot.

Dean died six days later.  Police have made no arrests.

Loved ones attending the vigil are demanding answers.  There were tears, candles and confusion as to how a man described by relatives as a "gentle giant" was shot.

"It's senseless, and we deserve answers because if it was somebody else's family and we knew something, they would want us to say something," said Alcelia Dean, the victim's sister.  "How big is our community if 100 people are dying every year. We need to pull together."

The Adhoc Group Against Crime is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Dean's killer.
