LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV) -

Police said they arrested a suspect they believe robbed a Lawrence grocery store Saturday night.

They said they were able to identify the suspect through surveillance video and arrested him at a Topeka, KS, home where he was staying.

Officers were called to La Tiendita, located at 3022 Iowa St., about 8 p.m. Saturday.

The grocery store's clerk told police the suspect entered the store with a handgun and demanded money. After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5'8" tall, weighing 150 pounds, wearing a black beanie style hat, a black hooded sweatshirt and jean jacket. The suspect only spoke in Spanish, according to the clerk.

The suspect was booked into the Douglas County Jail, but police have not named him. They said investigators continue to attempt to determine if he was involved in two other recent robberies which occurred nearby.

Anyone with information on these robberies is asked to call the Lawrence Police Department at 785-832-7509 or CrimeStoppers at 785-843-TIPS (8477). Callers to CrimeStoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for an award of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest of the suspect in this crime.
