KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Icy roads are likely to blame for a crash that killed an 18-year-old college basketball player.

Rebecca Lueke lost control of her vehicle she was driving about 10 a.m. Monday on Interstate 435 near Skyview Drive in the Northland.

Kansas City police said Lueke was heading west and lost control of her vehicle on the overpass.  She crossed through the grass median and into the oncoming lanes where she was hit by an eastbound semi truck. She then hit a guardrail.

Lueke was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured in the accident.

An article on Benedictine College's website said Lueke was recruited from Saint Teresa's Academy in Kansas City.

All eastbound lanes of I-435 at I-29 were closed while authorities investigated the accident.
