Robbery suspect charged after clerk assaulted with meat cleaver

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in which he allegedly threatened a clerk by putting a meat cleaver to her throat.

Ronaldo D. Conway faces first-degree robbery and armed criminal action charges.

According to court records, Conway jumped the sales counter in a CVS store in the 900 block of Main Street in downtown Kansas City on Saturday afternoon, assaulted a clerk and put a meat cleaver to her neck.

After he took money from the cash register, witnesses followed him and led police to him after he boarded an ATA bus.

Apprehended on the bus, he had the meat cleaver and money with him, police found.

Prosecutors requested a cash bond of $50,000.
