Canadian man killed after pinned between semis in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Independence Police report that a man from Canada has died in an accident.

Independence Police spokesman Sgt. John Passiglia said that the accident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the CDC distribution center on Truman Road.

Passiglia said that they were told that the victim had gotten out of his vehicle and it had began rolling backwards toward another tractor-trailer. He then tried to stop the vehicle but was pinned between the two rigs.

The victim, a 63-year-old resident of Ontario, Canada, was transported to an area hospital where he later died. The identity of the man has not been released at this time. The accident remains under investigation.
