SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

The state police are asking for your help in finding wanted sex offenders.

Two of them are from right here in Western Mass.

State police say the public is one of their best resources, and thanks to their faces and descriptions being plastered all over social media Monday, two of the offenders have already been caught.

Now it's two down, eight to go as state police hunt down the sex offenders.

All 10 of the men have been classified as Level 3 offenders, meaning they're highly likely to repeat offenses and are at risk of being a threat to public safety.

Steven Michael Cooper and Roberto Jimenez are wanted for sexual assaults in Western Mass.

Cooper is wanted by the Springfield Police Department for rape and not registering as a sex offender following a March 2008 rape.

He was also convicted of rape in Georgia and sentenced to 20 years.

He's 5'7" and weighs around 170 pounds. He has been known to go by Michael Jemel Cooper.

Meantime, Jimenez is wanted by Springfield and Holyoke police.

He was convicted of two counts of rape of a child under 16 in 2006 after he met a 12-year-old boy in a chat room, said he wanted to meet and play video games, and then sexually assaulted him.

He was sent to jail, released and disappeared in Holyoke where he failed to register as a sex offender.

He's described as 5'8" and 150 pounds. He has been known to go by the nicknames "Dill" and "Dee".

Plastering their faces on social media has already proved to be successful. Two of the sex offenders, Placido Valdez and Victor Quinones, were nabbed by state police in Eastern Mass Monday after tips from the public led them right to their doorsteps.

Police say if you see these men, do not approach them. Call the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section at 1-800-KAPTURE (1-800-8873).

Police also warn that these men may have changed their appearances or names.
