HARTFORD, CT (AP) -

Several Connecticut organizations are pitching in to help the Philippines and other southeast Asian nations devastated by the typhoon that tore through the region.

Save the Children in Westport says its warehouses in Hanoi and Da Nang are stocked with 6,000 household, hygiene, and education kits ready to be distributed.

AmeriCares in Stamford says it has representatives in the Philippines assessing what needs to be done. Shipments are being made to provide medical help, such as antibiotics, pain relief and other aid for 20,000 people.

And WJMJ-FM, the radio station of the Hartford Archdiocese, is redirecting money it's raising in its semi-annual fundraiser on Monday to help relief efforts.

Up to 10,000 people are feared dead in the Philippines.
