Chiefs fans inked for free at Kansas City tattoo shop

Kansas City Chiefs fever is at an all time high right now.

There are sold out games and lots of apparel being sold, but one local business owner is giving fans free tattoos.

"This is a slow time of the year for tattooing," said Wes Grimm who owns a tattoo shop on West 39th Street and Broadway Boulevard.

Grimm said his grandfather opened his a tattoo shop in St. Louis in 1926 where he inked Bonnie and Clyde and Charles Arthur "Pretty Boy" Floyd.

Grimm is a fifth-generation tattoo artist, and a Chiefs fan.

"So I decided to start tattooing Chiefs fans for free," he said.

But not just any Chiefs fan, just the first one that shows up every day when his shop opens at noon while the Chiefs are in first place.

"I would be happy if I did one of these everyday until the Super Bowl," Grimm said.

Grimm said he would tattoo Chiefs player anytime for free.

But on Wednesday, it was lifelong Chiefs fan John Shibley who received a Chiefs arrowhead.

"I think Andy Reid is doing a great job. I am real happy with Alex Smith," Shibley said.

However, Shibley said he is even happier with his new, free, Chiefs body art.

"Now hopefully next season we'll be doing these for the Kansas City Royals, because they're No. 1 all season," Grimm said.
