Two parents arrested after attacking principal

Posted: Updated:

A parent is accused of attacking a Hickman-Mills School District teacher.

This is the second reported attack this school year.

In the latest incident, Kansas City police say they issued misdemeanor citations to two women after one of the women chest bumped the principal at Burke Elementary School. The second parent allegedly kicked over a flower pot.

The confrontations were captured on surveillance video, authorities said.

Officials in the Hickman Mills District said the alleged assault occurred as the parents visited the school Tuesday after receiving notes that their children weren't complying with the school's dress code.

"I haven't seen the video yet, but I know Sergeant Dysra is investigating and looking at the video footage," said Hickman Mills District spokesperson Ebony Walker.

According to both police and the district, the first woman was cited for assault and property damage, and was taken to jail. The second parent was cited for disorderly conduct.

Earlier this school year, an irate mother allegedly rammed a kindergarten teacher's head into a file cabinet.

A district spokeswoman said that the district has wonderful parents and these are isolated incidents.
