NEW YORK (KCTV) -
The red-hot Kansas City Chiefs will get at least one more primetime game this year.
The NFL announced Friday afternoon that NBC has snapped up Andy Reid and the Chiefs visiting Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on Nov. 17.
The game had been scheduled to air at 3:05 p.m. on KCTV5.
NBC had been scheduled to carry the Green Bay Packers at New York Giants game, but the Giants season has spiraled downward. Starting in week 11, NBC can "flex" games. Fox and CBS each can block a game from being flexed each week during weeks 11 through 16.
No games can be blocked from being flexed in week 17.
CBS previously had said it would exercise its block rights for both Chiefs-Broncos games, but the NFL persuaded CBS to give that up and allow the Nov. 17 game to be flexed.
"We had originally protected the Kansas City-Denver game for Week 11," CBS Sports said in a statement. "After discussions with the NFL, we made a one-time accommodation so that the game can be seen by a national audience, which we could not provide during our regionalized singleheader weekend."
The Chiefs are unbeaten and the Broncos have lost just one game. Both are favorites to make the playoffs and are competing for the AFC West title.
The Chiefs already have played on Thursday night when Reid and the Chiefs visited the Eagles in September. That was the Chiefs only scheduled primetime game after several woebegone seasons.
The Broncos originally had five scheduled primetime games when the NFL schedule came on. This will now put them at the league-maximum of six games.
The Packers-Giants game on Nov. 17 will now air on Fox at 3:25 p.m. CBS/KCTV5 will air San Diego at Miami at 3:05 p.m.
