OSAWATOMIE, KS (KCTV) -
They've come a long way, and they've got a long way to go, but it looks like the Midway Drive-in Theater might be saved after all.
Owners Ann and Paul Dimoush have raised more than $14,000 toward the purchase of new digital projector they need to keep the drive-in in business.
Ann Dimoush said they still need to borrow about $35,000 from a bank to make the required 50 percent deposit required on the projector, which can run up to $80,000.
She said they picked up the check Wednesday and have an appointment with the bank.
"I guess we'll beg, plead, and pray," she said. "Taking on this kind of debt at our age is kind of nerve-racking, but I guess we'll do it."
Ann Dimoush said she doesn't know if her and her husband we'll live through it, but at least the theater will live on.
The theater's been open for more than 60 years in the small Miami County town, but the Dimoushes feared they were going to have to close when they could no longer get films in non-digital formats.
