CASA GRANDE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 14-year-old boy has been killed after getting behind the wheel with his 13-year-old cousin and his 9-year-old brother in the car.

The single-vehicle rollover accident happened on Shires Road north of Arica Road and south of Casa Grande about 6 p.m. Monday, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

The boy took his family's vehicle without permission Monday and was speeding down Shires Road northbound when he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled several times.

PCSO said the 14-year-old boy was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car. He was taken to the Maricopa Medical Center but he later died from his injuries.

The 9-year-old boy was also taken to Maricopa Medical Center and the 13-year-old girl was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital. They both had serious injuries.

"Alcohol and drug impairment are not factors in the accident, but rather the driver's young age and inexperience was the cause," said Sheriff Paul Babeu.
