A local high school is having to clean-up its football stadium after something very unsportsmanlike. Vandals made a mess at Brentwood High School, and not all of the damage will be easy to fix.
The morning before Brentwood was set to face rival Ravenwood High School, students awoke to a concerning scene.
"What I've heard, this one's pretty bad. And people have been talking about it today and for a time to come," said Brentwood Senior Destin Frost.
Paint was splashed on the scoreboard, signage, press box and bruin mascot statue, and there was damage to the field and track surrounding the field. Some of it spelled out words we can't share on television.
"The painting of the bear, and the track and the field, that was a little much," said Brentwood Junior Rebekah Voce.
The students agree the prank went too far.
"It's redundant. I really think there's no point to vandalize someone else's property because of a rivalry, because they know who did it and it will come back to you," Frost said.
Police in Williamson County are investigating, and the damage is estimated at $2,500 or more.
"Depending on the amount of damage, it could be felony vandalism. And I would anticipate that it would be, based on what I've seen from the photographs," said Brentwood Police Assistant Chief Tommy Walsh.
Ravenwood's stadium was also vandalized, but not to the point of the damage at Brentwood.
Investigators will review video surveillance to see if they can identity the people responsible for the damage.
