DUNCAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

In the sneakerhead world Troy Cole is know as Kickasso, a name that combines his favorite artist and a word commonly used for sneakers. And for this artist, sneakers are his canvas.

Cole lives in Duncan, SC, and runs his business, Kickasso Kustoms, out of his home. In his studio he takes ordinary shoes and makes them extraordinary using paints, textured materials and just about anything else that comes to mind.

The Byrnes High School grad said before he painted shoes he painted cars. But Cole decided to sell his body shop and devote his life to customizing footwear.

Cole said his shoe business took off thanks to social media, where he posted pictures of his work. Cole's Instagram page now has more than 200,000 followers.

Cole said he's done work for the likes of LeBron James, Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers, and most recently for Boston Red Sox right fielder Shane Victorino.

Cole said Victorino contacted him and asked him to design two pairs of custom cleats to wear during the World Series.

"One pair was a landscape, with blue ocean waves. The other was a lava field," said Cole, who choose the themes to honor Victorino's Hawaiian heritage.

The shoes also have the names of Victorino's children on the back.

Victorino posted a picture of the cleats on his Instagram account and called Cole, "One of the best in the business."

Cole, a Braves fan at heart, said he is rooting for Victorino and the Red Sox and said he is excited that his shoes will be seen worldwide.
