(CNN) – It's been closed for months, because of damage from Superstorm Sandy, but Ellis Island is set to reopen.

The island served as a gateway for millions of immigrants to the United States from 1892 to 1954.

Visitors will be able to tour halls of the immigration station on Monday, Oct. 28.

The immigrant Wall of Honor will also be on display.

However, the museum will remain closed through spring so a new electrical system can be installed.
