Student dies after rear-ending garbage truck

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (Toledo News Now) -

A Toledo hospital says the Bedford High School football player seriously injured in a crash Wednesday morning has died from his injuries.

Police say shortly before 9:30 a.m., Colton Durbin, 17, of Temperance, MI, drove into the back of a dump truck that was stopped to pick up garbage on Samaria Road east of Secor Road.

Durbin was transported to a Toledo hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the garbage truck, Brian Miller, 38, of Temperance, MI, was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to police.
