PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

You'll never look at a shaking dog the same way again thanks to a Portland photographer's new book.

Shake, by Carli Davidson, is a collection of portraits featuring dogs caught in mid-shake. The wild-eyed images, with hair flying and slobber flinging, first got noticed in 2011.

Davidson said she was inspired by her own drooling dog Norbert, a mastiff. She posted "shake" photos on the internet in 2011 and they soon went viral.

So, Davidson continued snapping photos of shaking dogs. For the book, 61 dogs were used. Some of the animals belong to her friends, while others came from Panda Paws Rescue in Vancouver, WA. Those "shake models" from the rescue organization have since been adopted to new homes.

Davidson said she captured the mid-shake shots with a Nikon D4 camera, which shoots 10 frames per second raw.

As far as how she got the dogs to shake, Davidson said there are a few techniques, but she's not revealing her secrets. Some of the dogs were "wetted down," however.

Davidson previously worked at the Oregon Zoo doing animal care, training, and education programs and, of course, photography.

Shake is available now. Go to www.shakethebook.com.
