A citizen's tip led Metro police fraud unit detectives to raid a Bordeaux-area convenience store Tuesday afternoon.

Police have been investigating C.J. Discount Market in the 3700 block of Buena Vista Pike for alleged dealings with stolen merchandise.

Officers said staff at the market purchased 195 cartons of cigarettes and 10 quarts of motor oil on 12 separate occasions from an undercover police operative who clearly represented the items as being stolen.

Store employees paid the undercover police operative about half of what the items are actually worth, police said.

Arrest warrants have been issued against of the store's operators, 24-year-old Hani F. Alkaifi, charging him with three counts of theft - two felonies and one misdemeanor.

Police said charges are anticipated against at least one other staff member.
