FOREST CITY, NC (FOX Carolina) -
A call about a break-in led to officials seizing a large amount of marijuana and crack cocaine Tuesday, according to the Forest City Police Department.
When police arrived at the home on Hardin Road, they said Andrew Holloway, 22, and Robert McEntire, 23, refused to leave.
Police noticed smoke coming from inside the house and called the Forest City Fire Department, officials said.
Police said two suspects then left the house and were taken into custody. Cops said they seized 35 pounds of marijuana and more than a pound of crack cocaine.
The fire department was able to put out the fire, which was contained to the kitchen area.
Officials said the suspects attempted to set fire to the marijuana in the stove.
Chief Jay Jackson of the Forest City Police Department said McEntire and Holloway are both charged with cocaine trafficking and possession of marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute. Holloway is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
