Either you or someone you know has seen the hugely popular musical Wicked.

It is in town for the second time and a big role in the show has a big heart for Kansas City.

Haley Podschun, playing Glinda the Good Witch, grew up in the Kansas City area. She went to school in Overland Park and credits her success to the people she met and her experiences in the metro.

Wicked is back in town, playing at the Music Hall, and back with it is the Overland Park native.

"It's really nice being back home in Kansas City, especially with Wicked. It's kind of combining my two worlds of New York and Kansas City in one," Podschun said.

Wicked is the prequel to The Wizard of Oz, telling the untold story of the witches. Podschun plays the part of Glinda, a role she auditioned six years to get.

"I really wanted it really badly and I wasn't going to stop ‘til I got it. So when I finally got it, I was like ‘yes!'" she said.

Podschun is a natural performer. Video shows her back when she was just a little girl, but belting out with a big voice. Growing up, Miller Marley School of Dance and Voice was a second home and her teachers there were like family.

"She was a live wire, always a little sprite, always happy and dancing in the door and that's kind of unusual, that's very special," Marley said.

Her natural showmanship and endless hard work landed her a role on Broadway when she was just 12. She's never looked back, but will never forget how she made it and landed her dream role.

"Coming home with everyone who has trained me has really been awesome. I wouldn't be where I am now without anyone I worked for here in Kansas City," Podschun said.

Wicked is in town until Oct. 27.

If you don't get a chance to see Wicked, there's still a chance to see Podschun perform. She's singing the National Anthem at the University of Kansas basketball game on Oct. 29.

Podschun said she's also crossing her fingers for a Chief's game.
