HALF MOON BAY, CA (KPIX/CNN) - Farmer Gary Miller grew a record-breaking 1,985-pound pumpkin.
It won the annual Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off Monday, beating last year's winner, who grew a 1,775-pound pumpkin.
"It's super exciting; it's super exciting," Miller said. "You know, it's like winning the marathon."
Miller won a prize of $11,910, which equals $6 per pound. He also got an extra $1,000 for having the heaviest pumpkin in the state of California.
