Belton woman gets special delivery on anniversary

Posted: Updated:

It was just a cherry limeade from Sonic, but it was so much more to Belton resident.

The limeade came at the request of Victoria Lovelace's husband, a day after their anniversary, from Afghanistan where Aden Lovelace serves as an army chaplain.

"He asked me if I would do him a favor, and I said, 'Yeah, of course,'" said Olivia Shelley, a Sonic carhop. Shelley received a call from Aden Lovelace from Afghanistan early Monday morning.

"He said, 'I'm stuck in here, and my wife is at Belton Regional Hospital. Can you deliver a Route 44 diet cherry limeade to her?'" Shelley told KCTV5.

Shelley told Lovelace that Sonic doesn't deliver, but she would check with her boss and see what she could do.

Sonic manager Cheryl Drury said she was happy to help, so she grabbed the drink and delivered on a promise to a soldier.

"It was so exciting, especially with what it said on there," Victoria Lovelace said. "It said, 'I will do anything for you. Happy Anniversary. Love, Aden. Our anniversary was on the sixth.'"

Victoria Lovelace said her morning had gotten off to a bad start, and she vented to her husband. His call, and Sonic's gesture, made not only her day but brightened the mood of everyone around her.

"It was so exciting, and it touched all my patients' hearts, my co-workers' hearts, everyone was just so happy and touched by this," she said.

Victoria Lovelace is 15 weeks pregnant with the couple's second child.
