Police say a 6-year-old boy was struck by a Metro bus Tuesday morning in Winton Hills.
It happened near the intersection of Winneste Avenue and Craft Street around 7:30 a.m. Witnesses at the scene reported the child ran in front of the bus.
According to Metro spokesperson Jill Dunne, the boy was alert and responsive to police when they arrived on the scene. He was taken to Children's Hospital, however his condition has not been released.
Dunne says the driver of the bus, who has been with Metro since 1995, was not cited.
Emergency crews closed Winneste Avenue during the investigation. The street has since reopened.
In a separate incident, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run early Tuesday in Cold Spring while crossing Alexandria Pike.
