Police investigating carjackings in Overland Park

OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

Police are investigating two carjackings in Overland Park over the past couple of weeks.

Detectives are working to determine if the two are connected. The same suspect description was given in both cases.

The most recent one occurred near 95th Street and Switzer Road about 8:45 p.m. Saturday. A man wearing a bandana pulled a gun on a man who was walking his dog.

The gunman demanded the victim's keys. The gunman and four others then took off in the victim's vehicle.

The first incident occurred on Sept. 22 near 79th and Grant streets. Again, a gunman approached the vehicle as four others waited nearby.

The victim said he had just gotten home when the gunman was lying in wait for him. He said the gunman put his weapon to his head. The victim cooperated and handed over his keys.

Police would later chase one of the suspects and one was arrested. Charges have been filed, but the hunt continues for the other suspects.
