EVANSTON, OH (FOX19) -

A man appeared in court Monday after he allegedly boarded a Metro bus and claimed to have a bomb in his wallet.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the bus Friday around 7:45 p.m., located at the 'Five Points' intersection of Montgomery Road, Hewitt Avenue, Woodburn Avenue and Gilbert Avenue.

Court documents indicate Tesfay Gebreaneia, 31, of Westwood, got on the bus and implied he had an explosive device on him. The driver reported the incident to police, and all passengers were evacuated.

The area was secured by responding officers, and upon further investigation by a bomb squad, it was determined the device was "fake" and posed no threat.

No one was injured. The bus was taken out of service for approximately two hours.

Police say Gebreaneia was taken into custody and transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was put under a psychiatric emergency hold. He was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center early Saturday.

Gebreaneia has been charged with inducing panic and disrupting public services.
