Two men in Rutherford County have been arrested after allegedly planning to have one of their wives shot and killed.
Pratakkumer Patel, 31, of Gallatin and Kalpesh Patel, 44, of Murfreesboro have each been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The suspects are believed to be cousins.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was asked to investigate after information came in claiming the men had found someone to shoot Pratakkumer's wife Tuesday morning.
The TBI says the suspects paid a hitman $15,000 and provided information about the intended victim.
Pratakkumer Patel was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He has since posted that bond, but immigration is keeping him in custody. Kalpesh Patel was booked on a $130,000 bond and immigration also put a hold on him.
The TBI says Kalpesh Patel was already out on bond for an identity theft charge in Murfreesboro.
