Two supervisors at the Lebanon Correctional Institute have
been indicted following a nine month investigation into trafficking and manufacturing
illegal anabolic steroids.
Anthony Conn, 41, and Brian Bendel, 43, were arrested on
Monday morning. Officials say that both have been charged with trafficking of
the drugs occurring outside of the prison walls. Police say that both Conn and
Bendel have been correctional officers for 19 years.
Police say that Conn, of Miamisburg Ohio, was also involved
in the manufacture of the drugs. He has been charged with 32 counts of
trafficking in drugs, 15 counts of illegal possession of drugs, one count of
permitting drug abuse, one count of illegal manufacture of drugs and
Conn is being held in the Warren County Jail.
Bendel, of Somerville, Ohio, has been charged with 13 counts
of illegal possession of drugs, six counts of trafficking drugs, permitting drug
abuse and funding of drug trafficking.
Bendel is being held in the Preble County Jail.
Police say that the investigation is continuing with
additional arrests forthcoming.
