INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Police had asked for help identifying a man who doesn't know much about himself, and the outpouring of tips has led to the man's identification.

Officers found the man Friday in the area of Little Blue Parkway and Interstate 70.

The man, who has been identified as Christian T. Frye, 42, of Washington State, was taken to the hospital. He has been released and is receiving care at another facility.

The man told police that his name was Christian Frye, and that he believed that he was from Washington State. Other than that, police said he had very little memory.

"Thanks to the outpour of notification from the local media and the citizen response from multi-states, identification of Mr. Frye was obtained," Independence Police Department spokesman Tom Gentry said in a statement. "Police are very grateful to everyone who participated in the effort."
