PARKVILLE, MO (KCTV) -

Nearly three dozen students at Park University are from Kenya, and they have watched in horror as events have unfolded in recent days after terrorists hit a mall in Nairobi.

In addition to the 32 students from Kenya, three are from Somalia. The students have been checking in with family and friends since the attack began.

Daniel Tubei said one of his friends was shot in the leg during the attack. Nearly 200 were injured and about 70 injured. The Kenya government is still fighting to gain control of the mall.

"It's so hard. He's a close friend of mine. I've known him a long time," Tubei said about his injured friend. "We went to the same high school."

He admitted he is struggling to concentrate on his studies.

"I didn't want to go to class," he said. "I'm so worried about my family now."

His father traveled to Nairobi to donate blood to help the survivors. Tubei said it's tough knowing he can't do anything to help, and can only watch news reports.

He said he also fears from attacks from terrorists.

"They can go anywhere and do anything," he said. "Next time maybe Somalia, maybe Ethiopia, maybe Uganda. Maybe another country or even the United States."
