Couple accused of making Yuma court bomb threat

A couple trying to delay a hearing at a Yuma juvenile court is in custody after allegedly calling in a bomb threat.

Yuma police say 33-year-old Jose Zermeno and his 29-year-old wife Rosalinda Chavez were arrested Friday.

They are being held on suspicion of using an electronic device to threaten and a creating a hoax.

Police say the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center received a telephoned bomb threat shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday.

The building was evacuated and searched for nearly two hours, but no suspicious items were found.

Investigators say Zermeno allegedly made a telephone call from Somerton reporting a bomb had been placed at the Juvenile Center.

Police say Zermeno and his wife were scheduled to appear for a hearing and admitted to trying to delay it.
