HOLYOKE, MA (WSHM) -

The Holyoke Parade Committee named Dick and Rick Hoyt as this year's John Fitzgerald Kennedy Award recipients.

The announcement was made at Thursday night's parade meeting.

The Hoyts are the father and son duo who have participated in more than 1,000 endurance races, including 31 Boston marathons.

Dick Hoyt has pushed his son Rick, who suffers from cerebral palsy, in his wheelchair for every race.

The JFK Award is given out every year to Irish Americans who have distinguished themselves in their chosen field or profession.

"It's been an incredible family team. They exemplify everything we believe in for parade weekend. We know they've done the Boston Marathon and they've been awarded so many great things. We're thrilled they'll participate in parade weekend," said Holyoke Parade President, Jane Coughlin-Chevalier.

Parade organizers said they're already gearing up for this years 63rd Annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade.
