Wildrego Jackson, 29, faces a federal charge of conspiracy to commit kidnapping for ransom, and another charge of felon in possession of a firearm.

According to a federal criminal complaint, agents were able to connect Jackson to the kidnapping, using records from his cell phone.

The documents also alleged, that the investigation later revealed that J.L., a girlfriend of Jackson, rented a gray Dodge Challenger from Enterprise Rent-A-Car on approximately Sept. 13, 2013 for Wildrego Jackson. On the morning of the kidnapping, the affidavit states that same car was seen by neighbors outside the home minutes before Ayvani Perez was taken.

Jackson was arrested Wednesday at Fulton Superior Court. Investigators said he was scheduled there for an unrelated case, and when he walked into court, he was taken into custody.

Perez was held for roughly 36 hours before she was dropped off at her aunt's house in Conyers, and safely reunited with her family.

Federal documents state Ayvani was held for ransom in exchange for money and drugs, and was told by at least three to four men not to look at them, as they shielded their faces.

Jackson will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday. That is when Jackson will have a preliminary hearing and discuss whether he will receive bond.

Another co-conspirator, Juan Alberto Contreras- Ramirez is also in custody on federal immigration charges.

Sources have confirmed to CBS Atlanta News that Ayvani's mother, Maria Magdalena Corral was arrested in February 2012 on marijuana drug trafficking charges. According to a search warrant obtained by CBS Atlanta News, Corral was arrested with Ramirez, who has now been linked to her daughter's kidnapping.
