OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

A man who was believed to be armed with a gun inside an Overland Park home is in police custody after a lengthy standoff.

The man came out of the home on West 142nd Terrace near Flint Street about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and surrendered to police.

No one was injured. The man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation.

This comes after officers surrounded the home in a neighborhood just a couple of blocks east of Quivira Road about 11 p.m. Tuesday. Police went to the home following a disturbance among family members.

Everyone was able to get out of the home safely, but the man, believed to be in his early 20s, refused to come out of the house.

Police said the man indicated he was armed with a gun. Authorities were in communication with the man throughout the night. No gunshots have been fired.

Officers said they notified neighbors of the situation and gave them the option of evacuating, but police were not sure if any neighbors actually left their homes.
