Arizona youth minister gets prison for molestation

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -

An Arizona youth minister who pleaded guilty in a child molestation case has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and lifetime probation.

Maricopa County prosecutors say Jasmine Omar Brown also was ordered Tuesday to register as a sex offender.

Last month, Brown pleaded guilty to molestation of a child and two counts of attempted sexual conduct with a minor.

Authorities say Brown was arrested in December 2011 on suspicion of child molestation stemming from a relationship with a boy.

Mesa police said the victim told them Brown had touched him inappropriately on two occasions during a summer camp at Family of God Christian Fellowship in Apache Junction.

Brown told police that he had been a full-time teacher's aide working with special needs children at Phoenix Collegiate Academy.
