National Child Passenger Safety Week - KCTV5

National Child Passenger Safety Week

Posted: Updated:

Car crashes in Missouri last year killed nine children younger than 8 years old and seriously hurt 92 others.

This week is National Child Passenger Safety Week, and the Missouri Coalition for Road Safety wants to make sure parents are buckling their children up properly.  There is going to be extra enforcement of the state's child seat belt laws this week.

Missouri and Kansas law requires all children under eight to be in an appropriate child safety seat or booster seat, unless they are at least 80 pounds and they are at least 4'9" tall.

Officials are urging parents to get their child's car seat checked.
