FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -

Two suspects escaped and two others were taken into custody but not without a fight during a pursuit in Pinal County, sheriff's deputies said.

Authorities discovered the vehicle they were chasing eastbound on Interstate 8 near milepost 160 also contained 153 pounds of marijuana.

As the deputy tried to pull the vehicle over, it sped off. A short time later, the vehicle pulled onto the shoulder and the driver and front seat passenger ran off.

A second deputy arrived and saw there were still two Hispanic men inside and behind them observed packaged bundles of marijuana, PCSO said.

The deputy ordered one of the men, 28-year-old Arturo Tellez, out of the vehicle at gunpoint. Tellez fled on foot southbound into the desert. One of the deputies gave chase on foot and caught him a short distance later. The sheriff's office said Tellez resisted arrest and struggled to get free even after he was taken to the ground.

The other deputy ordered the second suspect, 26-year-old Jesus Arguellas-Esparza, out of the vehicle at gunpoint and arrested him.

After taking Esparza into custody, the deputy ran over and assisted the other deputy who was still fighting with Tellez. One of the deputies used a stun gun to take him into custody.

The other two suspects who ran from the vehicle were never located. The vehicle was seized, along with the marijuana.

Arguellas-Esparza and Tellez were both booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana. Tellez was also charged with resisting arrest.
