It was a brutal slaying that shocked a city that has grown increasingly accustomed to violence.

Myeisha Turner, 28, and her 3-year-old daughter, Damiah White, were found dead inside their home last month. Turner's 1-year-old son was wandering around their bodies.

No arrests have been made. Family members and loved ones have repeatedly pleaded for the public's help in bringing the killer to justice.

A Kansas City Police Department captain said detectives are working the case tirelessly.

"We take it very personal. Very personal," said Capt. Joe McHale. "We will not allow a baby killer to roam free in this community. We will not allow them to threaten the people who will stand up and testify and stand up for that child."

On Tuesday, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker and Turner's uncle went door to door in the Blue Hills neighborhood asking anyone with knowledge to come forward.

The family held a rally at Blue Hills Park Wednesday afternoon. Baker and Kansas City Mayor Sly James were joined by more than two dozen concerned people and family members.

"Pick your team. You can be on the killer's team or this victim's team," Baker said.

Damiah's father and two grandmothers thanked everyone for their support.

"We are still fighting for my daughter," said Damiah's father, Damion White. "We are still fighting for Myeisha."

The patio's metal cover at the park was painted pink for Damiah because pink was her favorite color. James pledged that it would remain pink until her killer is caught.

"Anyone who would commit this type of act does not deserve to walk amongst us," James said.

Turner lived near 55th Street and Wabash Avenue. She had just moved into the neighborhood.
