PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Free Store for Teachers shopping season starts Tuesday in Northeast Portland.

Organizers are holding a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. followed by a grand opening at 2 p.m.

The Free Store for Teachers is a resource offering school supplies for Portland's 3,000 teachers.

Supplies such as paper, pens, pencils, notebooks, textbooks and more were donated by businesses and individuals. Teachers will also be able to stock up on art supplies.

Every trip to the free store is worth about $315 and is free for teachers. Supply drives and generous donations of new and gently used supplies keep the Free Store for Teachers running during the schoolyear.

The store is located at 2735 NE 82nd Ave. in the lower parking lot of Madison High School by the athletic field.
