Man killed, second man shot at Northland residence

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are searching for suspects after a fatal shooting in the Northland on Sunday afternoon.

The shooting was reported just after 1 p.m. at a home at 9404 N. Kenwood Ave. This is just north of Highway 152 and just east North Oak Trafficway in the Meadowbrook Heights neighborhood.

A man was found lying in the driveway. That man did not live at the residence, and police are working to determine what if any connection he had to the home.

A second man later turned up at an area hospital. Police believe he too was shot at the residence. Investigators said he may have had a connection to the house. Police haven't released his condition.

Several people were seen running from the home after the shooting. Police are also looking to determine if there are any additional victims.

The details are scarce, leaving neighbors wondering about the shooting.

"There were some people here at the address when officers arrived, we're talking to them right now to try to figure out what happened," Capt. Tye Grant said.

Investigators took a couple people in for questioning, but right now they say they have no suspect information to release, leaving neighbors preparing for an uneasy night of sleep.

"Usually our children are out in the cul-de-sac of the street playing, so for something like that to land this close to home, sure that is a big concern, stray bullet could have easily passed through the houses," neighbor Jerry Vogel said.

Police say they are not sure right now whether they need to search for suspects or if they've identified everyone involved.

Neighbors said they have seen some activity at the home with cars coming and going, and the people who live here are in their 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
