SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

An attempt to steal a stationary exercise bike from the Dakota Apartments, located at 15850 N. Thompson Peak Parkway, was foiled when the suspect, Donovan Roberts, realized he was being watched.

Roberts tried to take the stationary bike Wednesday morning around 2:15 a.m., however, as soon as he realized he was being watched he left the apartment complex in a U-Haul truck.

Officers responding to the scene were able to stop the U-Haul at Thomas Road on the southbound lanes of the Loop 101.

Roberts was taken into custody for burglary and warrants, according to Scottsdale police.

In the back of the U-Haul officers found additional workout equipment that they believe were taken from a separate exercise room at the Dakota Apartments.
