Cousin of Ariel Castro gives perspective on Casto's death
19 Action News reporter Dan DeRoos talked with first cousin of Ariel Castro about his death
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Her name is Maria Castro Montes,
first cousin to Ariel Castro. She
found out about Ariel's suicide after a text message just after midnight, and then
turned on 19 Action News.
"I cried a little bit, it wasn't
for him. I did all my crying 4 months ago. You know I cried for those girls,
you know the three victims and just kind wondering if they knew, what they thought, how
they felt," Montes tells 19 Action News reporter Dan DeRoos.
For Castro it was the easy way out. For his family, it brings the pain and focus of
it all back.
"I certainly hope that we can
finally close the chapter this move no. You know the ironic thing is that
everything kind of died down from before," Montes said.
there is Castro's mother to consider. We know that while Castro was locked up in the Cleveland Justice Center that she visited him on several occasions.
"She's his mother no matter how
you slice it and a mother's love, I think often than not is unconditional it has
to be. Can't even begin to imagine what
she's feeling and I just hope this doesn't kill her," Montes added.
