LIBERTY, MO (KCTV) -

Chad Rogers, a husband and father who went missing during a run last month, died from a heart condition, officials announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office has determined there were no signs of foul play, according to a news release from the Liberty Police Department.

Rogers, 30, failed to return from a run on the night of July 22. He was found sitting and slumped over a portable toilet near a construction site on July 26.

The six-page autopsy report reveals that Rogers suffered from heart disease.

"In my opinion, Chad Steward Rogers died as a result of valvular heart disease as a result of a congenital bicuspid aortic valve with evidence of insufficiency causing left ventricular hypertrophy and ischemic changes," the autopsy by Deputy Medical Examiner Robert Pietak said.

The Liberty Police Department says it has closed its investigation.

Hundreds of volunteers joined the search as word spread about Rogers' disappearance. His father made a tearful statement after his son's body was found.

"Our family is heartbroken at the loss of our son, brother, husband and father," a weeping Greg Rogers said. "We loved Chad and will always love him. Even though our hearts are sad, we know he is with his father in heaven."
