A verdict has been reached in the trial of the retired court officer accused of assaulting a Chicopee police officer.

Jay DiRico was found not guilty on four of the five counts he was charged with.

DiRico was found guilty of  assault and battery on a police officer and not guilty of assault with attempt to murder, assault and battery, assault and resisting arrest.

DiRico was accused of assaulting Chicopee police officer Jeffrey Couture at DiRico's home back in April of 2012.

Couture was responding to a keep the peace call at the time of the incident. He said DiRico's estranged girlfriend, Corrine Nelson, called police to ask for help in getting her belongings.

Closing statements in the case were held Tuesday morning. The jury only had the case a few hours before reaching their verdict.

Sentencing is set for Wednesday morning.
