Adrian High School dramatically improves state rating

ADRIAN, MI (Toledo News Now) -

School accountability reports are being released by the Michigan Department of Education, and Adrian High School saw a dramatic improvement in their score.

In the 91st percentile, they are now one of the top schools in the state for student achievement and academic growth. They received an ‘Excellent' rating from the state.

The reports are put together by the Department of Education and look at test scores and graduation rates.

Adrian High School Principal Kevin Ohrman says just a few years ago, the school was only in the third percentile. He says the efforts and adjustments everyone has been making are paying off.

"People have said, ‘What did you do to do this?' and it's just a combination of a lot of different things," Ohrman said. "Our teachers, staff, students, parents and the community – we've all just gotten together."

Ohrman credits graduation coaches, counselors, and the administration working more closely with teachers as part of what improved this score.
